Ben Hogan Edge EX Iron

In the Edge EX, we’ve removed much of the unnecessary weight behind the hitting area and repositioned it to the edges of the clubhead. This creates the perception of a face that is floating between the toe, heel, and sole of the clubhead.

The unique Open Cavity Design used in Edge EX irons allowed our engineers to not only reposition weight to the perimeters of the club to increase stability and forgiveness, but also enabled them to enlarge the size of the clubhead significantly.

As a result, the size of the face and Effective Hitting Area has been increased. In effect, golfers will see very little difference in distance and accuracy between shots hit directly in the center of the sweet spot and those much closer to the toe or heel.

The Edge EX lofts are designed 2 degrees stronger than our Icon and PTx Pro irons to further enhance the playability for the mid-handicap golfer looking not only for incredible feel and forgiveness but also increased distance in their irons.

Let’s face it, the sole of your irons usually aren’t particularly interesting. Few people pay much attention to them. More should, though, because a club’s interaction with the turf will dramatically impact whether a shot turns out well or poorly.

V-Sole® technology is a standard feature of Ben Hogan irons and wedges. It combines a high bounce leading edge with a low bounce trailing edge. This simple, yet highly engineered design allows for easy manipulation of the clubhead without changing the loft no matter if you are facing a downhill, uphill or even side hill lie.

The V-Sole Technology used on the Ben Hogan Edge EX irons has been optimized for each iron in the set. The strong leading edge combined with softer trailing edge allows the clubhead to glide through a wide variety of turf conditions. You won’t have to worry about excessive digging or, the clubhead ‘bouncing’ off the grass, or having the head being grabbed by even the most coarse strain of grass.
